The Bisbee Enclave: Local Artists

Heather Gijanto - Ceramic Artist, Painter, Jeweler

Heather Gijanto grew up in the area just outside of Bisbee. Ever since early childhood, art has stood to be a central focus for her. She was always drawing, creating dioramas, doing plays, singing and doing anything that she could to create. Her father, a former Army draftsman, would teach her about proportion and be her best art critic. Eventually, she found that she wanted to learn more and took any art classes that she could gain access to. Being Wiccan, she focuses on the natural aspects in art and how to encorportate those themes into her work. She studied painting and drawing in college as well as ceramic arts. Heather sells her work out of the Source Within and has sold all over the world on Etsy. Her favorite mediums are clay, acrylic paint and making jewelery as well as making bath and body products. Heather also does custom murals including the mural in the Student Union Building of Cochise College Douglas Campus. She currently lives with her husband and children outside of Elfrida and works in Bisbee.
